One Variable Statistics

One variable data sets can be analyzed by accessing the 1-Var Stats menu. The 1-Var Stats menu can be found as the first item under the STAT CALC menu. 

The following calculations are summarized and shown on the output screen of the calculator:

Steps for calculating one variable statistics on the TI-82: 
 
1. Enter the one variable data into list  L1. 

2. Press , and 3:SetUp... to chose L1 from the XList under 1-Var Stats.  This instructs the calculator to use L1 as the data list.  The frequency can be set as one (1), or as another list if the original data was input with associated frequencies. 

3. Press , and 1:1-Var Stats. The view screen should have '1-Var Stats' on it with the blinking cursor after it. 

4. Press .  The statistics listed above will be displayed for the data in list L1. 
 

Steps for calculating one variable statistics on the TI-83: 
Note: There is no set-up selection on the  CALC menu on the TI-83 calculator. 

1. Enter the one variable data into list  L1. 

2. Press , and 1:1-Var Stats. The view screen should have '1-Var Stats' on it with the blinking cursor after it. 

3. Input the list that you keyed the data by pressing "Alpha", and "1"- for L1, or "2" for L2, "3" for L3, etc. 

4. Press .  The statistics listed above will be displayed for the data in list L1.

The one variable statistics calculated should look like this: 

The first screen has an arrow just to the left of the last entry which indicates the display continues.  To view the rest of the output, arrow down until all of the statistics are displayed.
